Home Biogas is a system which converts food leftovers and animal manure into biogas that can be used for cooking, as well as natural, liquid fertilizer for the garden.
Home Biogas is compatible with both rural and urban lifestyles. The system is ideal for use in a warm climate area in a detached or a semi-detached home with a garden.
HomeBiogas produces up to 3 hours of cooking gas each day, enough to cook on 2-3 burners simultaneously. Now all your meals can be cooked on biogas.
Home Biogas comes with a 24 month limited parts and materials warranty.
HomeBiogas is shipped to you in a small box. Unlike other biogas digesters, you do not need a technician to install the system. It is a do-it-yourself kit, that comes with all the necessary tools and detailed instructions. The system can be installed in 2 hours!
Bio Gas Operation
The system is 100% off-grid.
After installation, HomeBiogas may take between 2-4 weeks to produce gas.
The system thrives on food leftovers such as rice, cheese, meat, cooking oil, vegetable peels, fruit and any other food waste. Avoid feeding large quantities of citrus fruit skin since it contains anti-bacterial oil which could reduce the effectiveness of the digestion
The system will digest all the waste inside the tank then start producing gas. Once you get back to feeding the system it will return to continuous biogas production.
Bio Gas Performance
You can input up to 6 litres (6qt) of food waste or up to 15 litres (15qt) of animal manure into HomeBiogas each day. Unlike composters, HomeBiogas can accept all food, including meat, fish, oil and fats.
Every litre of food waste produces about 200 litres of gas, the amount needed to cooking for one hour over a high flame. On average, HomeBiogas produces up to 3 hours of cooking gas each day – the perfect amount for a family!
A full HomeBiogas tank can fuel a one-blade barbecue grill for 45 minutes, and can fuel a typical stove burner for about three hours.
The system can store upwards of 500 litres of Biogas at any given time indefinitely. The Biogas will remain in the Digester Tank until used.
Bio Gas Safety
HomeBiogas is not only safe, it is safer than LPG and propane! In order to remain in a liquefied state in storage, LPG must be kept under high- pressure conditions. This poses a greater risk of explosion when in the vicinity of an ignition source. HomeBiogas, on the other hand, purposefully stores the gas in a soft case, at a low pressure, which prevents explosion.
Biogas is made up of small molecules which are lighter than air. When released into the surrounding environment, the biogas loses its ability to ignite and will quickly diffuse upwards, leaving the premise immediately.
On the contrary, LPG and Propane sink to the ground, increasing the risk of toxic levels of exposure.
HomeBiogas was tested by and received the European Community CE stamp of approval for safety.
HomeBiogas received two ISO certifications: certification 9000 for Quality Management and 14000 for Environmental Management.
Lastly, HomeBiogas was tested by and approved for safety and health by the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Energy Infrastructure.
Bio Gas Maintenance
Replacing its gas filter once a year. The gas filter removes the hydrogen sulphide from the biogas.
Removing the sludge that accumulates at the bottom of the digestion tank. This should be removed once every three years. Once the sludge is removed, it can be applied directly to your garden as fertilizer or used to wet your compost heap.
Replacing the chlorine tablet if it has dissolved completely. The chlorine tablet disinfects the remaining bacteria in the liquid fertilizer.
Add an electric aquarium heater to heat the digester tank.
Place the system in a greenhouse or in an indoor space that is warm and has proper ventilation.
